Why was the place named Namada Chilume?
Lord Rama journeyed to various places with Sita and Lakshman during his Vanavasa (exile) of forteen years. There are a few places in Karnataka on the list, and this is one of them.
When Lord Rama came to this place, he sat on a rock. When he realized there was no water to apply a Tilak to his forehead, he launched his arrow at a nearby rock. Water began to gush out from within the rock as the arrow split it. Lord Rama applied a tilak to his forehead with this streaming water. That is how Namada Chilume (Nama means Tilak and Chilume means Spring) came to be named.
Medicine to many skin disorders
The strange thing is that there are no nearby water sources. Water still gushes out of the spring in this rocky location 365 days a year. The water is thought to have numerous healing benefits. Many skin disorders can be treated with this water. A cage is created around the springlet to keep it safe and away from people. The water that comes from the springlet is gathered in a small hole close below the surface that is accessible to humans. Those who want to drink this holy water can do so.
Keep in Mind: There are notices warning people not to put coins into the springlet because they may stop the water rushing out. Even with strict instructions, few individuals disobey them. A request to anyone who visit this location to obey the rules and maintain it clean.

These delicate creatures, with their towering antlers and soft, questioning eyes, lend a magical touch to the surroundings, evoking wonder and tranquility.
